About
A short story of the room and the people.
Restaurant Pelivan opened its doors in 1948, in the heart of Poreč by the main town square (Trg slobode) and the Roman decumanus, the main street of the Roman castrum. Since then, the passion for food was passed through five generations, with Pelivan one of the oldest restaurants in Istria.
The kitchen has changed with time, but the foundation has stayed the same: homely flavors, Mediterranean specialties and care for guests: all built over decades. Each generation of the family has brought something of its own, yet none has forgotten what those before them built.
In the heart of the city, on a site that has long been part of its daily life, where Romans and generations of Poreč locals once walked, and where guests from around the world walk today, we strive to give every guest a genuine taste of Istrian gastronomy. Closeness to the people who sit at our tables is a value we nourish with the same care as the menu itself.
Pelivan today isn’t only a restaurant with a long history. It is a living part of Poreč, the place where the story continues every day, hour after hour, from generation to generation.
We believe Pelivan is a place that remembers Poreč, and a place remembered by both the city and its guests as well.
